Noah Noble served in many official positions throughout Indiana. He was sheriff and a member of the State Legislature for Franklin County, Indiana. He was also Receiver of public monies for Indianapolis Land District. In 1831, he was elected Governor of the State of Indiana and was re-elected for a second term. Originally from Tennessee, John Tipton and his family moved to Harrison County, Indiana in 1807. Tipton was active in territorial government, served as a militia officer, politician, Indian agent, and land speculator. In March, 1823, he was appointed Indian agent at Fort Wayne and served as a commissioner to negotiate a treaty with the Miami and Pottawatomie in 1826.
